Opening night of the 2009-10 MIAC ice hockey season brought rivals the College of Saint Benedict and the University of Saint Thomas together on the ice for the first time this year as the two teams battled it out at the MAC in Saint Cloud, MN. Virtually even through two periods of play, the Tommies used a three goal third period to pull away from the Blazers in securing the win 5-2.

Playing a non-conference game against the Saint Olaf College, the College of Saint Benedict (1-2-0, 0-0-0 MIAC) fell this afternoon by a score of 2-3. The Blazers, playing their final game before the MIAC season opens next weekend, head back to the MAC after playing a solid game that ended up not going their way.

Athletes of the Week
Isabel  Pennings
Pennings had an exceptional showing at the Gustavus Invitational last weekend, in which she won the 50 freestyle (25.18) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.72).  She was also a part of two first place relay teams in the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle.
