Wee's O2 Goal Preserves Fifth Straight Win for CSB
The College of Saint Benedict Blazer soccer team (6-3-0 MIAC, 9-5-1 overall) won their fifth straight game off of a goal by sophomore Olivia Wee (Savage, MN, Juan Diego) in double overtime against Saint Mary’s University (2-6-0 MIAC, 8-6-1 overall) on Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph, MN.

The Blazers and Cardinals traded off for control all game, as neither team could capitalize on their opportunities.  CSB held a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks and out-shot SMU 13-9.  The Cardinal’s offense had two shots hit the post, one hit the crossbar, and another shot that senior goalkeeper Shannon Strohm (Burnsville, MN, Apple Valley) just got a hand on to make the save.

Saint Benedict was finally able to put away the game at the 108th minute when sophomore defender Sami Meyman (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley) assisted Wee off of a long pass.  This was Wee’s second goal of the season and Meyman’s third assist on the year.

Strohm received the win at the net, collecting five saves in the process.

The Blazers continue their home stand against Carthage College on Sunday, October 25th at 1 pm in Collegeville, MN at Saint John’s University.
