Women's Cross Country takes 7th at MIAC Championships

The Blazer cross country team took seventh out of twelve teams at the MIAC Championships Saturday afternoon. The team was lead by senior runner  Alyx Chapman (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater Area) with a time of 23.35.4, taking 13th overall out of 229 athletes and named an All-Conference runner. Following Chapman was sophomore Kaycee Knutson (Esko, MN, Esko) with a time of 23.51.1, taking 18th place and named an All-Conference Honorable Mention. Next in was Kaitlyn Schwarz (Mahtomedi, MN, Mahtomedi)with a time of 24.22.1, Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) with a time of 24.29.7, and rounding out the top five for the Blazers was Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID, Twin Falls) with at time of 24.38.6. Caitlin Schnettler (Richmond, MN, ROCORI) and Molly Noel (Eagan, MN, Cretin-Derham Hall) also finished with strong times of 24.50.2 and 25.14.8.

The next meet for the Blazer cross country team is the Fall Finale 5k in Collegeville, MN on November 6, 2009 at 4:30 pm.

Athletes of the Week
Julia Renner
Renner placed first and second in the triple jump and long jump respectively at the MIAC Championships.  Her winning jump of 11.23 meters in the triple jump met an NCAA provisional mark as well.
