Blazers Claim Second

Starting the day in second place, the College of Saint Benedict made sure their would be no upsets bids in their attempt to finish in the top two in the MIAC, shooting a final round team score 332 to stay in second at 1014. The team finished ahead of third place Saint Thomas by 11 strokes fourth place Saint Olaf by 21 strokes. Gustavus Adolphus retained the women’s title with their three day total of 968.

The Blazers were lead by sophomore Kathryn Hauff (Fargo, ND, Shanley) who finished her tournament tied for second individually. Hauff’s round of 76 today gave her three consistent rounds for her team and also earned her a spot on the All-MIAC team. Hauff was followed by senior April Dammann (Glencoe, MN, Glencoe-Silver Lake) who rebounded nicely in her last MIAC tournament to post a final round 81. Dammann’s three day total 256 left her in a tie for 11th individually. Junior Sarah Hupperts's (North Oaks, MN, Mounds View) final round 94 left her in a tie for 16th individually at 261. Hupperts was followed by first-year Molly Knutson (Edina, MN, Edina) and junior Nadia Christensen (Tyler, MN, Marshall). Knutson finished her first MIAC tournament with another consistent round of 88 to giver her a three day total 264, leaving her in a tie for 21st individually. Christensen was able to score better each day and finished the day with an 87; good for 30th individually at 271.

With a great fall season coming to a close, the Blazers next focus on their spring season and trying to qualify for nationals. The teams spring season kicks off at Jekyll Island on March 19th.

Athletes of the Week
Julia Renner
Renner placed first and second in the triple jump and long jump respectively at the MIAC Championships.  Her winning jump of 11.23 meters in the triple jump met an NCAA provisional mark as well.
