Meyman, Three Others Receive MIAC Women's Soccer Awards

Four members of the College of Saint Benedict Blazer soccer team were honored by the MIAC, including sophomore defender Sami Meyman (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley), who was named to the All-Conference Team.  Sophomore midfielder Heather Beshears (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove) and senior forward Alison Tourville (Plymouth, MN, Robbinsdale Armstrong) received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors, while sophomore midfielder Stephanie Gibbs (Plymouth, MN, Robbinsdale Armstrong) was selected to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Meyman started in all 18 games in 2009 for Saint Benedict and was an instrumental leader for the defense.  She recorded three assists on the season and played almost every minute of each game.

Beshears had a standout season for the Blazers, leading the team in goals and points (eight, 17).  She also tied for 10th in two conference statistical categories; goals and goals per game (0.44).

Tourville, a senior co-captain for CSB, finished her collegiate career strongly by tallying three goals and five assists.  Her 11 points was second best on the team.  This is her fourth year being honored by the MIAC, too.  She has made two appearances on both the All-Conference Team and Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.

Gibbs, who recorded one goal in 2009, was chosen to the Sportsmanship Team by her teammates and coaches for her demonstration of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field.
