Blazers Advance in MIAC Playoffs
The College of Saint Benedict tennis team won 5-4 versus rival Saint Thomas in the first round of the MIAC playoffs. 

The Blazers started slow in the doubles and only won one of the matches. Junior Katie Rudnitski (Gilman, MN, Foley) and first-year Lauren Jones (Ogden, UT, Saint Joseph Catholic) dominated the court with an 8-2 victory. CSB dominated in the singles and won four of the six matches. First-year Megan Seipel (New London, MN, New London-Spicer) won 6-0, 6-3. Sophomore Elissa Husby (Duluth, MN, Marshall) had a 6-3, 6-1 finish. CSB and UST were tied 4-4 with singles #2 still competing. Sophomore captain  Kylie Huether (Sioux Falls, SD , Washington) was down a set, then won the second set, and dominated in the supertie breaker to win, 4-6, 6-4, (10-2).

CSB will challenge #1 seed Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday May 2nd at 11:30am in Saint Peter.

Athletes of the Week
Julia Renner
Renner placed first and second in the triple jump and long jump respectively at the MIAC Championships.  Her winning jump of 11.23 meters in the triple jump met an NCAA provisional mark as well.
