Blazer Cross Country takes fifth overall at National Catholic Invite
    The College of Saint Benedict cross country team finished strong at the National Catholic Invite this past Friday at the Universtiy of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN. The Blazers took fifth out of twenty-four teams with two runners, Alyx Chapman and Kaycee Knutson, who finished in the top 25 performances of all time in the 5k race. Senior Alyx Chapman (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater Area) led the way for the Blazers taking 13th place with a time of 19:22. Following Chapman was sophomore runner Kaycee Knutson (Esko, MN, Esko) who took 16th place with a time of 19:29.
    
    Other athletes who finished with strong times were Kaitlyn Schwarz (Mahtomedi, MN, Mahtomedi) with a time of 20:08, Shannon McEvoy (Bloomington, MN, Jefferson) with a time of 20:36, and Ashley Irons (Twin Falls, ID, Twin Falls) with a time of 20:50. Following shortly after was Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) with a time of 20:51 and Anna Williams (Apple Valley, MN, Eastview) with at time of 21:10.

    The next meet for the Blazers will be the BluGold Invitational on Otober 2, 2009 in Eau Claire, WI at 4:00 p.m.

Athletes of the Week
Julia Renner
Renner placed first and second in the triple jump and long jump respectively at the MIAC Championships.  Her winning jump of 11.23 meters in the triple jump met an NCAA provisional mark as well.
