The College of Saint Benedict Blazer tennis team had a successful weekend at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament and the Fall Invite, both held in St. Peter, MN.
At the Fall Invite, the doubles team of sophomores
Lauren Jones (Ogden, UT, Saint Joseph Catholic) and
Megan Seipel (New London, MN, New London-Spicer) won matches against Hamline 9-4, Gustavus 9-8 (7-3), and Wisconsin-Lacrosse 8-1. They were eliminated from the tournament in the semi-final round by Wisconsin-Whitewater 8-5.
In singles action at the Fall Invite, Jones defeated Angela Shields from St. Scholastica 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 in the third round, but lost in the quarterfinals to Andrea Vivian of Wisconsin-Lacrosse 6-3, 1-6, 10-5. Senior
Katie Rudnitski (Gilman, MN, Foley) advanced to the consolation semi-finals until falling to Jennifer Dallenbach of Wartburg 8-5.
Meanwhile at the ITA, junior
Kylie Huether (Sioux Falls, SD , Washington) lost in a consolation round to Coe College's Michelle Schupbach, 6-4, 6-1.
The Blazers return to action on Saturday, October 10th in Sioux Falls, SD when they face Augustana College at 9 am and the University of Sioux Falls at 1 pm.
