The College of Saint Benedict Nordic Ski team kicked off the 2010 season with an impressive first place finish at the Saint's Invitational held at the SJU Trails in Collegeville, MN. First-year skier
Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) used a strong finish to take first place overall in her first collegiate race. Smith finished with a time 0:38:14. The Blazers finished with 44 total points, while Saint Cloud State University finished second with 36 points, Gustavus Adolphus College third with 30, the College of Saint Scholastica fourth with 28, Saint Olaf College fifth with 27, and Bethel sixth with five points.
Senior
Christi Nowak (Dayton, MN, Rogers) finished 3rd overall with a time of 0:38:24 and was just one second behind second place finisher Julia Curry of the College of Saint Scholastica. Senior
Katelyn Engel (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) rounded out the scoring for the Blazers with a ninth place finish overall with a time of 0:40:58. Sophomore
Shannon McEvoy (Bloomington, MN, Jefferson) came in 13th place overall, and sophomore
Kelly Donahue (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) finished in 15th place.
CSB will host the Minnesota College Series next Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the SJU Trails in Collegeville, Minnesota. The meet will start at 2:30 p.m.
