Blazers Lose Narrowly 2-0
The College of Saint Benedict (2-9-2, 0-4-2 MIAC) ice hockey team displayed Blazer pride in narrowly losing to the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The yellowjackets, who were riding a four game winning streak heading into their match with the Blazers, used two goals by sophomore forward Ashley Martin to overwhelm Saint Benedict and sweep the weekend series.

Sophomore center Jennifer Yelle (Coon Rapids, MN, Coon Rapids) lead all Blazers with five shots on net as the team collected a total of 16 shots on goal for all three periods. Yelle was followed by sophomore forward Kelly Fladebo (Mora, MN, Cambridge-Isanti Mora) and junior forward Holly Reinking (Maple Grove, MN, Elk River), who each collected two shots on goal.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Herzog (Mendota Heights, MN, Convent of the Visitation) started in the net for the Blazers collecting 26 overall saves for the team including a shutout first period during which Herzog stopped all 10 shots that came her way.

The Blazers return home to the MAC next weekend when they take on MIAC foe Gustavus Adolphus. The game is scheduled for January 22nd at 7:30 pm.
