Blazer Fall to Huskies

The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team traveled to Saint Cloud State University to take on the Huskies in a dual meet. Despite many outstanding performances for the Blazers it was the Huskies, who came out ahead by a score of 168 to 120.

The Blazers were highlighted by sophomore Carolyn Triggs (Edina, MN, Edina), who earned first place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard IM. Other first place finishes were earned by:  senior Abbey Brau (Eden Prairie, MN, Eden Prairie) in the 1650 yard freestyle, first-year Jessi Haider (Grey Eagle, MN, Melrose High School) in the 1 meter diving, senior Sara Baker (West Des Moines, IA, Dowling Catholic) in the 50 yard butterfly and the 200 yard freestyle team of first-year Isabel Pennings (Hayden Lake, ID, Gonzaga Prep School), sophomore Katie Peters (Southside, AL, Our Lady of Good Counsel Home School), first-year Kathy Nystorm (Foreston, MN, Milaca High School)and first-year Mary Wood (Rochester, MN., Rochester Lourdes High School).

 

The Blazers will return to action Jan. 29 when they travel to St. Paul for the Macalester Invitational.

Athletes of the Week
Julia Renner
Renner placed first and second in the triple jump and long jump respectively at the MIAC Championships.  Her winning jump of 11.23 meters in the triple jump met an NCAA provisional mark as well.
