Smith's 23rd Place Finish Leads Blazers at Mayor's Challenge

The College of Saint Benedict nordic ski team competed at the Mayor's Challenge SuperTour in Minneapolis over the weekend and came away with some impressive individual performances. CSB participated in the 5K Freestyle race on Saturday and the 10K Classic race on Sunday. The 5K race featured 163 finishers, while the 10K race had 112.
Leading the Blazers in the 5K race was senior Christi Nowak (Dayton, MN, Rogers), who finished in 27th place with a time of 0:14:13.1. Senior Anna Roessler (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids) finished 68th with a time of 0:15:15.6, and first-year skier Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) was close behind and finished in 70th palce overall at 0:15:16.9.
In the 10K race, Smith led CSB with a 23rd place finish. She finished with an impressive time of 0:32:33.8. Nowak placed 41st with a time of 0:34:00.8, and junior Stephani Seymour (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) came in 50th place at 0:34:42.0.
The Blazers will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday, January 30-31, when they travel to Cable, WI to compete in the NCAA Qualifer #3.
