Thrilling Comeback Leads to Tie
BOX SCORE

Down two goals entering the third period, the College of Saint Benedict (2-11-3, 0-6-3) stormed back silencing the crowd of 177 at the Moorhead Sports Arena in the process as they tied Concordia University 4-4.

Looking to display the fast, aggressive start shown the week before during their series against Gustavus, the Blazers ended the first period down 2-1. First-year defender Ashley Olson (Fairmont, MN, Fairmont High School) got the team on the scoreboard when she scored her first goal as a Blazer at 05:56. Olson was assisted on the play by junior forward Kerri Graske (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater Area).

Sophomore goalie Lauren Herzog (Mendota Heights, MN, Convent of the Visitation) stopped over 40 shots for the third game in a row for Saint Benedict finishing the night with 48.

Junior center Gretchen Leyendecker (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) brought the game score to within two when she scored at 14:53 late in the second period. Sophomore forward Brenna Gould (Rosemount, MN, Rosemount) assisted Leyendecker on the play.

Junior forward Holly Reinking (Maple Grove, MN, Elk River) brought the Blazers to within one when she scored her first goal of the season midway through the final period. Reinking was assisted on the play by Leyendecker and first-year forward Kaley Flynn (West St. Paul, MN, Henry Sibley High School)

With less than two minutes remaining in the game, sophomore forward Amie Ernst (North Mankato, MN, Mankato Loyola) netted her fourth goal of the season to pull the Blazers even. With the two teams deadlocked at 4-4 at the end of the period, the game entered overtime. With neither team able to find the back of the net the game ended in a tie.

The Blazers are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they finish their series with Concordia. The puck drops at 2 pm.
