The College of Saint Benedict nordic ski team placed fifth overall out of eight teams at the Telemark NCAA Qualifer #3 5K Classic race held in Cable, WI. The scoring was based on the top three finishers from each school. The Blazers scored 50 total points to edge out sixth place finisher Gustavus Adolphus College, who scored 49 points. Northern Michigan University won the event with three skiers in the top five overall for a total of 84 points.
CSB was led by first-year skier
Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North). Smith finished with a time of 0:18:59.8, which placed her 15th overall. Senior
Christi Nowak (Dayton, MN, Rogers) came in 19th place overall with a time of 0:19:19.3, and junior
Stephani Seymour (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) took 28th place overall with a time of 0:19:56.6. Smith recorded 19 points, Nowak scored 18 points, and Seymour earned 13 points for the total of 50.
Seniors
Anna Roessler (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids) and
Katelyn Engel (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) finished 31st and 33rd, respectively.
The Blazers will compete again tomorrow, Janurary 31, in the 10K Skate at Telemark Lodge in Cable, WI.
