Smith, Nowak Lead CSB Nordic Ski Team to Fifth Place Finish

The College of Saint Benedict nordic ski team came away with their second consecutive fifth place finish Sunday afternoon at the Telemark Lodge in Cable, WI. The Blazers scored a total of 53 points at the NCAA Qualifer #3 10K Freestyle race and were led by first-year skier
Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) and senior
Christi Nowak (Dayton, MN, Rogers). Smith finished 14th overall with a time of 0:33:15.0, and Nowak was close behind finishing in 15th place overall with a time 0:33:31.4.
Northern Michigan University won the event with 82 points. They were followed by Michigan Tech University with 75 points, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with 58 points, and the College of Saint Scholastic finshed with 57 total points.
Senior skier
Anna Roessler (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids) earned 14 points for the Blazers by coming in 28th place overall at 0:34:55.4. Finishing just behind Roessler was junior
Stephani Seymour (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) with a time of 0:35:00.1.
CSB will compete in the NCAA Qualifer #4 on February 13-14 in Marquette, MI.
