Blazers Defeated 1-0
BOX SCORE

Playing less than 24 hours after a heart wrenching third period loss, the College of Saint Benedict (2-16-4, 0-10-4 MIAC) gave it all they had playing in front of their parents in a 1-0 loss to Saint Mary’s University. Celebrating parents’ weekend while saying thank you to those who made their careers possible, the Blazers were unable to overcome the Cardinals one goal lead. The loss was the Blazers eleventh by one goal or less in 22 games this season.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Herzog (Mendota Heights, MN, Convent of the Visitation) kept the Blazers in the game, playing one of her best games of the season in stopping 39 Cardinals shots. Herzog’s saves included 16 in the second period as Saint Mary’s made the most of three Blazer penalties.

Sophomore forward Kelly Fladebo (Mora, MN, Cambridge-Isanti Mora) led the Blazers with four shots on goal. Fladebo was followed by sophomore forward Kerri Graske (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater Area), who recorded three shots.

The Blazers are on the road next Friday as they travel to Northfield to take on Saint Olaf. Saint Benedict has four games remaining in their 2009-10 season.
