BOX SCORE

Junior post Heather Gillund (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) led the College of Saint Benedict basketball team (19-5 overall, 17-4 MIAC) with 25 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks in a 77-64 win over Hamline this evening.

The Blazers started the game with a 7-2 lead over the Pipers, holding the lead until 13:30 remained on the clock, at which point Hamline jumped ahead 15-13.  CSB didn't back down, grasping the lead two minutes later with a score of 18-17.  The Blazers went on a 10-5 run over the next four minutes and maintained their pace for the remainder of the half to lead 39-35.

To start the second half, CSB jumped a 11-4 lead to lead 50-39.  The Pipers couldn't grasp another lead, only able to bring the score within four.  The Blazers were able to hold Hamline to a mere 29% field goal percentage in the second half, shooting a 37% themselves.  CSB went on to lead 77-64.

Gillund led the Blazers in scoring, rebounding, and blocking.  Junior forward Laura Canton also added a career-high 20 points and grabbed four rebounds.

The Blazers next host Gustavus on Sat., Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. in Claire Lynch in their last regular season game of the season.  Gustavus and CSB hold the no. 1 and no. 2 spots in the MIAC, separated by only one win.  If the Blazers win, the two teams will be tied in the conference.
