Blazers Start 2010 Season Off Right
The College of Saint Benedict opened their 2010 campaign by traveling to Carleton to compete in the Carleton Quadrangular Friday. The Blazers did not disappoint as they won seven events. Senior Heidi Golliet (Coon Rapids, MN, Coon Rapids), junior Abby Neigebauer (Waseca, MN, Waseca), junior Kailyn Schwarz (Mahtomedi, MN, Mahtomedi) and sophomore Julia Renner (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View) highlighted the Blazers by placing first in their events.
Golliet placed first in the shot put and weight throw, while Renner placed first in the triple jump and 55 meter hurdles. Neigebauer picked up right where she left off last season by earning a first-place finish in the 55 meter dash and a second-place finish in the 200 meter dash, while Katie Schwarz received first-place honors in the mile. Also finishing first was the Blazers 4 x 400 relay team.
The Blazers will return to action February 13, when they host Saint Catherine College in a dual meet.
