The College of Saint Benedict Blazer volleyball team held their first practice of the season yesterday.
Last season the Blazers finished with an overall record of 26-6 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Regional Quarterfinals. Under the direction of first year head coach Nicole Hess, the Blazers plan to pick up where they left off last season.
The Blazers will look to the experience of seniors
Amber Wortz (Fairfax, MN, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop),
Calleigh Brown (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo), and
Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart).
Wortz appeared in 112 sets for the Blazers last season and was second on the team in assists (74). Middle blocker Calleigh Brown appeared in 109 sets last season for the Blazers and was second on the team in kills (297). Right side Kayli Schumacher appeared in 109 sets last season for the Blazers and was named top offensive for the team.
The Blazers begin season play on September 1st, versus Northwestern at 7 pm in Claire Lynch Hall.
