Blazer Tennis Team Earns Academic Awards
Scott Larsen
The College of Saint Benedict Blazer tennis team has been honored with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) 2010 All-Academic Team award.  In addition, five student-athletes received individual Scholar-Athlete awards from the ITA.

For a team to qualify for All-Academic Team status, the program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.  CSB joined the Gustavus and Hamline women’s tennis programs as the three MIAC women’s tennis teams to earn the team award.

Seniors Rachel Tiegs and Katie Rudnitski, juniors Kylie Huether and Elissa Husby, and sophomore Lauren Jones all earned individual Scholar-Athlete awards.  In order to receive the award, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

The Blazers, coached by Scott Larsen, finished fifth in the MIAC in 2009 with a 12-7 overall record and a 6-4 conference mark, advancing to the second round of the MIAC Playoffs.
