First SAAC Meeting of the New Year -- August 22, 2010

The first meeting on August 22nd with a new, excited team for SAAC began with introductions and announcements of upcoming events in Blazer Athletics. The officers planned a professional development time where the members all practiced networking skills and positively promoting SAAC. A question was proposed to the members asking, “What is SAAC?” and as a group, SAAC is going to compile the replies and come up with a universal message to publicize. After the activity, the new Sister Sports and Blazer Big Days were announced for the 2010-2011 year. In attempts to strengthen our leadership skills, SAAC has also teamed up with the Blazer Athletics office employees to incorporate the Inspiring Leaders Certificate Program (ILCP) into our program as well. SAAC has also named a sustainability committee, which is being lead by Kelsey Torchia, Anna Williams, Mary Woodand Caitlin Goodman, that is going to recruit other athletes interested in making Blazer Athletics more sustainable and finding ways for us to do so. In the year of sustainability at the College of Saint Benedict, Blazer Athletics wants to be involved as much as possible whether it is using uniforms another season or promoting fans to do their part recycling and cleaning up at home events.  The meeting wrapped up with a discussion of more involvement with the Saint John’s SAAC and key points to take back to the team from the meeting.
